During Ramadan, ABF launched bangaloresehri.in β a lifeline for students, single professionals, and especially women in PGs and hostels who struggle to access Sehri (the pre-dawn meal before the daily fast).
How it started
In 2024, the first three weeks were enough to validate the need: over 5 lakh views and 4,000+ direct requests for Sehri assistance. A live Google map with pinned providers made discovery seamless. The platform divided Bengaluru into North/South/East/West, with a one-tap toggle for βIβm looking for Sehriβ vs βIβm providing Sehri.β
How it grew
By 2025 and 2026, the platform had deepened from utility to movement:
- 100+ Sehri providers came on board (homes, restaurants, masjids, community kitchens).
- 50,000+ people received Sehri daily during the holy month.
- 1.5 lakh individuals gathered at masjids across Bangalore for community Sehri.
Honouring the unsung heroes
In April 2025, ABF hosted a Meet & Greet for the Sehri providers who featured on the platform. The gathering was attended by prominent personalities of Karnataka. The energy in the hall confirmed what weβd suspected: this was no longer a directory. It was a community recognising itself.
What this teaches us
A static map plus a phone number is enough to coordinate compassion at scale. The technology is trivial; the trust and the network behind it are what matter.
